Energy Performance Certificate
What are Energy Performance Certificates?
Energy Performance Certificates (or EPCs as they are commonly known) were introduced in 2007 and they rate the energy efficiency of a property from A (very efficient) to G (very inefficient).
EPCs are required for the sale and rental of residences in the UK and they are also used to determine which properties can qualify for Government grants. EPCs have been effective at raising awareness about the importance of energy efficiency in homes.
An EPC is valid for ten years, after which a new survey of the property must be carried out and a new certificate issued.
